Today, we are going to share with you four recipes for immune boosting smoothies to help you stay healthy during the winter!

Why do smoothies help boost your immune system?

What is the first thing you think about when you imagine a smoothie? Fruits and vegetables, of course! Everybody knows that the best way to receive your daily intake of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and all other substances that are crucial for your health, is by consuming the right food! That is why, consuming enough fruits and vegetables daily can actually boost your immune system and help fight off infections! Smoothies that don’t contain dairy products are great for colds, flu, and viruses, and these are the exact ones we will be sharing with you right now!

Winter Immune Boosting Smoothie

This is a recipe from a very famous food blogger – KALEJUNKIE®, a.k.a. Nicole Keshishian Modic. We are sharing this exact smoothie with you, because it contains ingredients which are known to have anti-inflammatory properties, a lot of antioxidants, as well as vitamins and minerals!   • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 teaspoon fresh or ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots

How to prepare it

Put all the ingredients inside a high-speed blender, and wait until the texture becomes creamy. Consume it immediately!

Smoothie “Powerhouse”

You can make this one with only five ingredients: orange, spinach, grapefruit, pear, and ginger. All of these fruits and veggies are known to have antioxidants and immune-boosting properties!


  • 1 pear, chopped
  • 1 orange, chopped
  • 1 grapefruit, chopped
  • 1 piece ginger, chopped
  • 1 large handful spinach
  • ½ cup water 

How to prepare smoothie “Powerhouse”

Start by blending the spinach with water, then chop the ginger and all the fruit. After that, add these ingredients into the spinach mixture and blend until smooth. This smoothie can stay overnight in the fridge and me consumed the next day as well!

Banana, Kiwi, and Spinach Smoothie to boost your immune system

As you may already know, Kiwi is high in vitamin C, antioxidants and other essential minerals. Banana contains vitamin B6, Magnesium, Potassium, and a lot of fiber. The finishing touch is the spinach, which is well known as one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables, because it’s rich in Iron, Zinc, Magnesium, vitamins A, E, C, K,B1,B6, and B2. All in all, these ingredients make the perfect immune boosting smoothie!


  • 40g fresh baby spinach (about a handful)
  • 2 kiwis (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 banana (peeled and chopped)
  • 200g natural yogurt

How to prepare it

Chop the banana and kiwis to pieces and put them in the blender, add the baby spinach leaves and the yogurt as well. Blend it until you get a creamy texture. Consume right away.

Orange, Beetroot, and Berry Smoothie

Not a lot of people know this, but Beetroot have a lot of potential health benefits, including fighting off inflammation, protecting cells from damage, increasing stamina and so on. The orange, we presume you already know, is a vitamin C bomb, and berries are also packed with antioxidants, minerals, and some vitamins! The three ingredients make the perfect combination to keep you healthy and strong during the winter!


  • 1 large bulb cooked steamed beetroot, peeled
  • 1 banana
  • Half an orange, without the skin
  • Large handful frozen or fresh blueberries
  • (You can also add 3-400mls of almond milk)

Instructions on how to prepare it

Chop the banana and the beetroot, put them in the blender, add the orange pieces and berries (and the almond milk). Blitz until you get the desired creamy texture. Consume immediately.
